On Saturday, April 27th, we held our first offline event, "Life and Notion Meetup #1," in Tokyo!
About 30 people gathered on the day, including members who usually interact online as well as members from the general public.
It was a valuable opportunity to meet and talk with everyone in person, so I'd like to share a little bit about what it was like.

The venue is Kokuyo's "THE CAMPUS FLATS"
The venue for this event was "THE CAMPUS FLATS," an event space run by Kokuyo in Tokyo.
Preparations for the offline event began with choosing a venue, and the deciding factors were the lifestyle and Notion-like atmosphere.
Some of the participants even came from far away, such as Kansai.
We also streamed the event online within the community, so people who lived far away and couldn't make it were able to participate.
We are looking into holding events at this venue on a regular basis in the future!
Starting with a short talk by a community member!
Since members of the community regularly hold study sessions and other events to share their ideas, we planned a lightning talk (LT) that we had always wanted to hold at the event.
We invited community members to participate, and the following three people gave presentations.
- MANABU: "Key remapping to make basic computer operations more comfortable"
We learned how to customize your keyboard with apps like "Karabiner-Elements" to create an easy-to-use key layout, and how to assign convenient shortcuts with "Keyboard Maestro."
- Keitaro: "Master your iPad! The ultimate distraction mode and home screen customization"
We learned how to use iPad shortcuts and focus mode to create home screens dedicated to specific tasks, such as "reading mode" or "writing mode."
- Toyoguchi: "Loosely Organizing Notion - Color Rules for Intuitive Use"
He explained the benefits of organizing Notion's page icons by color, which can be a bit of a hassle, and how to set rules.
Each session was very interesting and we learned a lot right from the start. The participants asked questions and had a great time.
We've revealed the inside of Notion!
In the main content, I will reveal how I use Notion on a daily basis and reveal my own Notion.
Actually, I haven't really shared much on YouTube or anywhere else, but I decided to take the plunge and share the overall structure, as well as my real work and personal pages!
The structure is basically based on the "PARA Method" introduced in the book "SECOND BRAIN," but there were quite a few surprised voices that it only had four pages of Notion.
I explained how to recreate the PARA method in Notion, how it is actually used, and how the sidebar is operated, while showing the pages.
We will also show you actual pages and explain how to use it for work, as well as for personal purposes such as keeping a diary or for travel.
Finally, we also unveiled our brand new task management template, "Todotion."
The template was created based on the task management method known as "GTD," and was well received by participants, with some saying things like, "This is exactly what I wanted!", which made me very happy.
This template went on sale the other day! If you're interested, check it out here👇️

Community member award ceremony held
To conclude the event, an awards ceremony was held to recognize the members who have contributed to making the community a success.
- The person who organized the study session
- People who gave a lot of reactions
- Someone who proactively spoke to me
We gave each of them gifts and special roles on Discord (such as "talker king").
It was a bit of a surprise, and the winner was very happy!
Chatting at length at the networking event
At the end of the event, there was a networking session where participants could talk freely with each other.
I was excited to finally be able to speak directly with community members who I had only been able to communicate with through chat until now.
We had so much fun talking about our concerns about Notion and exchanging information about services we were interested in that we didn't have enough time.
Many of the participants came to enjoy interacting with the members, so I realized that opportunities to meet in person are important.
Please look forward to the next time!
In fact, "hosting offline events" was one of our goals when we started the community.
It is thanks to the community members and everyone who always supports us that we have been able to create this space less than six months after opening.
Thank you so much!
We hope to continue creating a place where we can gather offline about once every six months.
If you're interested in going, we'd love for you to join our community!
