Recently, a new view called "Feed View" was introduced in Notion!
This time, we will introduce in detail what feed view is, how it can be used, its features, detailed functions, and ideas for how to use it.

What is "Feed View"?
Feed view is one of the new views recently introduced in Notion.
The biggest feature is that the contents of the page are displayed as they are.
A portion of the contents will be displayed without opening the page, and you can also view the entire contents by pressing "More."
The feed view is a mix of a toggle list and a gallery view.
This view allows you to see a wider range than Gallery View, making it ideal for databases with content within pages, such as meeting minutes, internal wikis, study notes, and recipes.
How to use the feed view
You can add a feed view the same way you add any other view.
- Click the plus button at the top of the database
- Select "Feed View"
Just like any other view, you can filter, sort, etc.
Point 1. The page layout is displayed as is
The feature of the feed view is that the layout of the page contents is displayed as is.
The layout remains the same even when multiple columns are displayed, so even pages divided into two columns, for example, can be viewed as they are.
If you cleverly gather information such as recipes at the top of the page, you might be able to cook without even opening the page.
Point 2. You can directly embed YouTube etc.
If you embed a YouTube or website in a page, it's convenient to be able to play or click on it directly from the feed view without opening the page.
It seems like it could be useful when you want to create a list of videos or as a web clip.
By the way, in addition to embedding, you can also operate buttons directly from the feed view.
Unfortunately, the to-do list cannot be operated at this time...I hope to see it in future updates.
Point 3. Usernames and comments can be hidden
By default, usernames and comments are displayed in the feed view, but these can be hidden.
Hide username
- Select "Layout" from "Settings" in the top right corner of the database
- Turn off "Show author signature"
Hide comments
- Once the page is open, click "Customize Layout" from the "..." in the top right corner.
- Hide "Comments (top of screen)" from "Page Settings" in the upper left
- Click "Apply to all pages"
Hiding both makes the board simpler and easier to read. It also looks neater when viewed on a smartphone or tablet.
Also, if the page is untitled, the title will not be displayed, so you can display only the contents of the page like this.
It can be used like a simple card, so it seems like it will have a wider range of uses.
Point 4. Properties can be displayed side-by-side in a simple way
You can also view the properties in the feed view.
Select the properties you want to display from Settings in the top right corner → "Show/Hide Properties" and they will be displayed in a horizontal row below the title.
It looks simple and cute, and it doesn't take up much space, which is great.
However, since the property names are not displayed, it may be a little difficult to use similar tags or multiple checkboxes.
We recommend using it like this!
You can also view the properties in the feed view.
Here are some ideas for how you can use Feed View in your work and daily life.
diary
You can see the contents of the page in a list, which will make it easier to reflect on your daily life.
Recipe
Images are displayed, making it easy to find. If you write ingredients and recipes at the top of the page, it's convenient because you can find them without opening the page.
minutes
By organizing ToDos and decisions at the top of the page, you can easily check the contents. If you want to read the full text, you can open it from "Other".
Internal Wiki and bulletin boards
You can see the content of the page, which makes it easier to find information. You can sort by creation date and use it like a bulletin board.
If there is a situation where you think feed view could be useful, please try it out.
