Notion recently rolled out a new view called "Feed View!"
In this article, we'll delve into what Feed View is, how it can be used, its features, detailed functions, and ideas for practical application.

What is "Feed View"?
Feed View is one of the new views recently introduced in Notion.
Its main feature is that the content of the page is displayed directly.
You can see part of the content without opening the page, and you can view the full content by clicking "More."
Feed View gives the impression of a mix between a toggle list and a gallery view.
Since it allows you to see a wider area than the gallery view, it is a perfect view for databases that contain content within pages, such as meeting minutes, internal wikis, study notes, and recipes.
How to use Feed View
You can add Feed View using the same steps as other views.
- Click the plus button at the top of the database.
- Select "Feed View".
Like other views, you can also filter and sort.
Point 1: Page layout is displayed as is
A characteristic of Feed View is that the layout of the page content is displayed as is.
The layout does not break even when multiple columns are displayed, so, for example, a page divided into two columns can be viewed with its original appearance.
For recipes, if you organize information at the top of the page, you might even be able to cook without opening the page.
Point 2: Embedded YouTube videos and other content can be operated directly
If you embed YouTube videos or websites within a page, a convenient feature is the ability to play or click them directly from Feed View without having to open the page.
This could be useful for creating a list of videos or as a web clipping tool.
By the way, besides embeds, I was able to operate buttons directly from the feed view.
Unfortunately, Todo lists cannot be operated at this time... I hope for future updates.
Point 3: Usernames and comments can be hidden
In Feed View, usernames and comments are displayed by default, but they can be hidden.
To hide usernames
- From "Settings" in the top right of the database, select "Layout".
- Turn off "Show author signature".
To hide comments
- Once you open a page, click on "..." in the top right and then "Customize page".
- From "Page Settings" in the top left, set "Comments (top of screen)" to hidden.
- Click "Apply to all pages".
Hiding both makes the board simpler and easier to view. It also looks cleaner and more readable when viewed on smartphones and tablets.
Also, if the page title is blank, it won't be displayed, so we were able to show only the page content like this.
It can be used like a simple card, expanding the range of its uses.
Point 4: Properties can be displayed simply side-by-side
Properties can also be displayed in Feed View.
From "Settings" in the top right, select "Show/hide properties," and choose the properties you want to display. They will appear horizontally below the title.
The appearance is simple and appealing, and it's great that it doesn't take up much space.
However, property names are not displayed, so similar tags or multiple checkboxes might be a bit difficult to use.
Recommended uses!
Here are some ideas for how Feed View could be used in work and daily life.
Diary
Since the page content can be viewed in a list, it should make daily reflections easier.
Recipes
Images make it easy to find what you're looking for. If ingredients and cooking instructions are written at the top of the page, it's convenient because you can understand them without opening the page.
Meeting Minutes
If you summarize to-dos and decisions at the top of the page, checking the content becomes easy. When you want to read the full text, you can open it from "More."
Internal Wiki or Bulletin Board
Since the page content is visible, it should be easier to find information. If sorted by creation date, it can be used as a bulletin board style.
