This time, I'll be introducing how to manage movies you've watched and movies you want to watch in Notion!
Do you know about "Filmarks," an app for clipping movies? I imagine many of you use it.
I used Filmarks myself until recently, but I tried migrating to Notion and found it to be really great, so I'd like to share it with all of you!
This content is highly recommended for those who want to keep notes of movies they've watched, those who want to clip movies they want to watch, and even those who, like me, couldn't stick with Filmarks.

Why I switched from Filmarks to Notion.
When it comes to movie-clipping apps, "Filmarks" comes to mind. Many people around me used it, so I downloaded the app, but I just couldn't stick with it.
I think the reasons why I couldn't continue were as follows:
- I only opened the app when I watched or wanted to watch a movie, so I didn't open it very often in the first place, meaning it didn't become a habit.
- All my other management was done in Notion, so having movie management in a separate app was complicated.
Of course, Filmarks also has some excellent features, such as being able to see movie ratings within the app and connect with friends.
However, for me, someone who wants to minimize the number of apps, this "movie management in a separate app" just didn't feel right...
So I tried migrating to Notion, and I found it to be much more convenient and easy to use.
Specifically, I found the following points convenient:

If you're already using Notion and simply want to organize movies you've watched and movies you want to watch, I recommend this method. Please give it a try.
How to create a movie list in Notion.
Now, let's take a closer look at the contents of the page.
The page has three main blocks, divided into "Watched Movie List," "Movies to Watch List," and "Creator Database."
The "Watched Movie List" shows a list of movie titles that have been watched, like this.
With movies, it's surprisingly easy to forget what you've watched over time, isn't it? Sometimes I can't remember a movie I saw a year ago... (Is it just me? lol)
Keeping a record like this makes it very convenient to quickly see what you've watched. It also gives it a bit of a collection feel, and might even make you want to watch any unwatched movies in a series, so I recommend it. lol
For each movie page, I've tried to include the following items:
- Checkbox for "watched"
- Type (Western film/Japanese film/Animated film...)
- Movie genre
- Creator
- Date watched
- Rating
- Comments
Have you ever thought, "I've seen this movie, but what was it about again...?" It's a good idea to add ratings and comments after watching a movie, as it makes it easier to recall the content later.
Below the watched movie list is the "Movies to Watch List." When I find a movie I'm interested in, I add its title here, just like with the watched movies.
Here's a convenient point unique to Notion.
When you actually watch a movie, checking the "watched" checkbox on that page automatically adds it to the "Watched Movie List." This feature is incredibly convenient!
At the very bottom, I also created a creator list so you can search for movies by director.
What made switching to Notion convenient.
1. Can include not only movies but also dramas and games.
Although the page I introduced was only for movies, if you add "drama" or "game" to the type, you can also turn it into a general entertainment list.
I personally prefer to consolidate data as much as possible, so being able to manage things other than movies together was a very convenient point for me.
2. Can filter movies by genre and rating.
Since genres and ratings are tagged, you can, for example, filter by "animated movies," and then further narrow down to works you've given "★★★★★."
I think this feature is great for when you have a large number of works and finding them becomes difficult.
3. Database customization options are infinite.
For example, you can add items like "where to watch" (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.) or create an actor field. The beauty of Notion is that customization options are limitless.
Being able to customize it exactly how I wanted made creating the page a lot of fun!
This time, I linked creators and created a "Creator Database" at the end, but you could similarly create a database for your favorite actors.
You can also freely use the space within the page to add a synopsis, your thoughts, or images from the film, making it useful as a movie journal!
