Notion is finally introducing its ninth new view: Map View!
This time, we will introduce in detail what you can do with Map View and how to use it.

What is Map View?

The new map view allows you to see the contents of a page on a map.
When you add a view, a map will be displayed, and a "location property" where you can enter location information will be automatically added to the table view.
This is also a new property added to suit the map view.

Entering a location, such as "Kyoto Station," in the location property will place a pin on the map.
You can display up to 100 pins, making it perfect for planning trips or lists of your favorite shops.

How to use Map View
1. Click the plus button in the upper left corner of the database and select "Maps"

2. The "Location property" is automatically added to the table view

3. Enter the location you want to register in the Location property and select it.

4. A pin appears on the map

Resize the map
The map size can be changed in four stages.
With the map open, select "Height" from the settings button in the top right corner and choose your preferred height from "Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large."

Open Google Maps

You can tap the map displayed in the location property of the table view to open the location in Google Maps .
The Google Maps app will open on your smartphone, so you can start getting directions right away.

Until now, you had to paste Google Maps links one by one, but now you can simply select a location here and add both ① a Map View pin and ② a Google Maps link at the same time, which is very convenient!
Please note that you cannot transition to Google Maps from Map View.
It's a little hard to understand, but it will come in handy when you travel.
Change the color of your pins

You can also change the color of your pins using the conditional color feature.
For example, when traveling, color-coding each type of trip, such as "lunch," "sightseeing," and "accommodation," will make the map easier to see and organize.
If you want to color-code by type, first create a base tag using "Selection Properties."

1. Select "Conditional Color" from the settings button in the top right

2. Click "New Color Setting" and select the property you want to color code.

3. The color of the tag will be reflected on the pin, or you can change the condition to set a different color right now.

Filter to show only the pins you want to see
You can also use the filter function in map view.
For example, using a filter is useful when you want to display only items tagged with food.
1. Click the filter icon in the upper right corner
2. Select the property you want to filter by and check only the items you want to display.

That's it for our introduction to Map View in Notion!
Using the map view will likely make travel planning and store lists more convenient.
Please give it a try.
