Notion has finally released its ninth new view, "Map View"!
This time, we'll introduce what you can do with Map View and how to use it in detail.

What is Map View?
The newly introduced Map View allows you to see the contents of your pages on a map.
When you add this view, a map will appear, and a "Place property" will be automatically added to your table view, allowing you to enter location information.
This is also a new property added along with the Map View.
When you enter a location such as "Kyoto Station" in the Place property, a pin will be placed on the map.
You can display up to 100 pins, making it perfect for planning trips or creating lists of your favorite shops.
How to use Map View
1. Click the plus button at the top left of the database and select "Map."
2. A "Place property" will be automatically added to the table view.
3. Enter the desired location in the Place property and select it.
4. Pins will appear on the map.
Changing the map size
The map size can be changed to four different levels.
With the map open, select "Height" from the settings button in the upper right corner, and choose your preferred height from "Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large."
Opening Google Maps
By tapping the map displayed in the Place property of the table view, you can open that location in Google Maps.
On smartphones, the Google Maps app will open, allowing you to immediately start navigation.
Previously, it was necessary to paste Google Maps links one by one, but being able to add both ① a pin in Map View and ② a Google Maps link simultaneously just by selecting a location here is incredibly convenient!
As a point of caution, you cannot transition to Google Maps directly from Map View.
It's a bit unclear, but it seems like it would be very useful for trips and such if you remember this.
Changing the pin color
You can also change the color of the pins using the conditional coloring feature.
For example, when traveling, color-coding by type such as "lunch," "sightseeing," or "accommodation" can make the map more visually organized and easier to read.
If you want to color-code by type, first create tags as "Select properties" to serve as criteria.
1. Select "Conditional colors" from the settings button in the upper right corner.
2. Click "New color setting" and choose the property you want to color-code.
3. The tag colors will be reflected on the pins. You can also change the conditions and set different colors here.
Filtering to display only desired pins
You can also use the filter function in Map View.
For example, filtering is useful when you want to display only items with a "food" tag.
1. Click the filter icon in the upper right corner.
2. Select the property you want to filter and check only the items you want to display.
