1. What is Notion Home?

The Notion Home we are introducing this time looks like this page.

It gathers recently accessed pages, upcoming plans, and tasks in one place, making it the perfect page to see first when you open Notion.

You can access Home from the "Home" button at the top of the sidebar, and you can also set it as the default page to open when Notion launches.

🔧 How to set it to open on launch
From the "•••" menu at the top right of Home, select "Change page to open on launch" and then select "Home".

2. What you can do with Home

Home is composed of blocks called "widgets," and each widget can be shown or hidden, with some exceptions.

🏷️ Types of Widgets

  • Recent Access
    → Recently accessed pages

  • Upcoming Events (NEW)
→ Recent events from Notion Calendar

  • My tasks
→ A list of tasks assigned to you from multiple databases.

  • Database View (NEW)
→ Displays selected databases. You can select and set views or different databases using tabs.

🔧 How to show/hide widgetsYou can select this from "•••" in the top right corner of the Home screen > "Widgets to display".

Among these, "Upcoming Events" and "Database View," which were added in this update, are particularly noteworthy.

The "Upcoming Events" feature now displays upcoming schedules linked with Notion Calendar. Being able to see today's plans and tasks in one place is very convenient!

In "Database View," you can choose and display frequently used databases.

You can switch between views using tabs, and even set up views for different databases, allowing you to configure several of your favorite databases.

For example, it would be useful to set up monthly goals that you always want to see, daily journals, work-related pages, or frequently viewed pages.

It's great to be able to easily view pages without opening each one individually!

3. How to set up Home

Here, for those who haven't used the Home feature yet, we will introduce how to set up "My tasks" and "Database View" which require configuration.

3-1. How to display tasks in "My tasks"

To display tasks in "My tasks," you need to convert the database containing the tasks you want to display into a Notion "Task Database."

🔧 How to convert to a task database

1. From the "•••" menu at the top right of the database, click "Customize database" and select "Tasks".

2. Select the properties that correspond to "Status," "Assignee," and "Due Date." If there are no properties, select "New" and click "Convert to task database."

This completes the setup for displaying tasks in "My tasks". Tasks where you are selected as the "Assignee" in the database will appear in "My tasks".

From Home, you can also apply filters and sort tasks from the "•••" menu at the top right of the widget. You can also add tasks using the "+" icon.

3-2. How to set up "Database View"

In Database View, you can select and display existing databases.

1. From the "•••" menu at the top right of the Database View, click "Source".

2. Select the database you want to display in the Database View.

Similarly, from the "•••" menu, you can show/hide properties, group, filter, and sort.

If you want to display multiple views or databases, you can add them from the "Add view" tab in the top-left corner of the view name.
