When we think of the end of the year, we think of deep cleaning. Have you ever been at a loss, year after year, as you reluctantly try to tackle it, wondering, "Where should I start?" or "Where did I clean last year?"
This time, we're introducing a Notion template for a "Deep Cleaning To-Do List" that might make your deep cleaning a little more motivating!
Once you've created the list, the great thing is that you can reuse it the following year. You'll definitely be thanking your past self next year!

1. Create a Deep Cleaning To-Do List
First, list the areas you want to clean. In the "Table View" of your "To-Do List," write down each area that needs cleaning.
It's recommended to list them by room, such as kitchen, water areas, living/dining room, and bedroom, adding a "Room" tag to each item.
If multiple people are cleaning, you can assign cleaning tasks in the "Person Cleaning" column. We'll explain how to add users at the end of this article.
It's convenient to write down cleaning methods that you might forget each year, or cleaning supplies you want to buy in advance, in the "Notes" section.
2. On the Day of Cleaning, Check Areas to Clean by Room
Once you've listed everything in "Table View," a list of areas to clean by room will be created in the adjacent "Board View" tab.
This way, you won't be at a loss wondering "Where do I clean?" and it'll be easier to get started.
On the day of deep cleaning, refer to this list and proceed with cleaning room by room.
As you check off completed items, it becomes clear at a glance which areas are still pending. You can easily see how much is left to do.
As you check off more items, you'll feel a sense of accomplishment, and it might even make deep cleaning a little more enjoyable! 👀

3. How to Make Even More Use of the Template
3-1. Share and Use with Your Partner or Family
This template is recommended not only for individual use but also for sharing and using with your partner or family. Notion allows you to share pages, so everyone can work on cleaning while looking at the same page.
If you're using it with others, start by sharing the page. To share, click "Share" in the top right corner of the page, enter the email addresses registered with Notion, and invite them.
Once the page is shared, let's assign "Person Cleaning" right away.
This makes it clear who is cleaning where, and the deep cleaning should proceed smoothly.
Since the same page can be opened on smartphones, it's recommended that everyone checks their phones and proceeds with cleaning on the day!
3-2. Reuse for Subsequent Years
Deep cleaning happens every year, but once you create a list for your current home, you can reuse it in subsequent years.
This template includes checkboxes for the last three years. Of course, you can continue to use it indefinitely by adding more checkboxes.
By default, the board view displays the 2023 checkboxes. If you want to use it for a different year, please follow these steps:
- Select "Properties" from "..."
- Hide the "2023" checkbox and display "2024"
With this, you won't have to worry every year about "What should I clean for deep cleaning?" or "Where did I clean last year?"
3-2. Create a "Skip This Year" Button
As you use the list every year, you might find some areas that you think "I don't need to do this this year." In such cases, let's create a "Skip This Year" button.
Here's how to create it:
- From the "Property" on the right side of the Table View, click the "+" button and select "Checkbox".
- Once the property is added, change the title to "Skip This Year".
Furthermore, let's hide the checked items in the Board View.
- Click "Filter" in the top right of the Board View.
- From "Add a filter" at the top, select the "Skip This Year" property.
- Select "Unchecked".
Then, items checked as "Skip This Year" will no longer be displayed in the Board View.
If you overwrite the checkboxes the following year, you can use it in the same way.
